GoFundraise Becomes Official Fundraising Platform of Spartan Race
Spartan has announced that GoFundraise will be its official fundraising platform, and the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society will serve as its inaugural Gold Charity Partners.
“Spartans around the world have endless reasons for why they race," said Allie Stone, Spartan's Director of North American Event Performance. "This partnership gives racers the unique opportunity to fundraise for a cause that is near to their hearts, while simultaneously taking on the transformational experience that is a Spartan Race: pushing themselves on the course while concurrently doing good off the course.”
Spartan's goal is to change 100 million lives, and the fundraising goal — powered by GoFundraise — is to raise $100 million for charity.
Thanks to GoFundraise, the Spartan community will be able to fundraise for any charity of their choice, including the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross, upon registering for their Spartan Race.
The American Red Cross will serve as the presenting partner for the Fenway Park Stadion race in Boston on November 12-13. Additionally, the American Red Cross will provide unique rewards for racers who hit certain fundraising goals. Racers who fundraise $100 will receive a Red Cross T-shirt and branded shoelaces. If they raise $500 they'll receive a Red Cross duffel bag. If they hit the $1,000 mark, they'll get a Red Cross folding chair.
The American Cancer Society will serve as the presenting partner for the San Jose Spartan race on November 12-13. By joining Team DetermiNation, racers can expect the following benefits:
- Raise $300 and receive your choice of either a DetermiNation/ACS technical shirt or singlet.
- Raise $500 and receive a redemption code for 1 free entry to the 2023 Spartan Race season – it must be redeemed by May 31, 2023 — and your choice of a technical shirt or singlet.
- Raise $1000 and receive a DetermiNation sport backpack, a redemption code for 1 free entry to the 2023 Spartan Race season — it must be redeemed by May 31, 2023 — and your choice of a technical shirt or singlet.
“GoFundraise is excited to make it easy for Spartans to make a difference for their favorite charity while they are challenging themselves and committing to a Spartan race,“ said GoFundraise cofounder and CEO Stuart Finlayson.
“We are proud to partner with Spartan Race to drive support for the American Cancer Society’s mission,” said Paul Purdy, Strategic Director, Endurance Events and Network Fundraising for the American Cancer Society. “Through this collaboration, athletes will have the opportunity to race for a cause and raise funds to save lives from cancer.”
“The American Red Cross is honored to become a Spartan Race Gold Charity," added Jennifer Warga, American Red Cross' VP of Consumer Fundraising and Marketing. "Through this partnership, participating athletes will raise funds for the Red Cross, helping us carry out our life-saving mission, whether that’s providing disaster relief, life-saving blood, critical services for military families and veterans, training — like CPR and water safety — or international aid. We look forward to supporting communities and families across the country with Spartan Race."
