What's New to Spartan Racing in 2025

The Year of the Boar: What Does It Mean?

Each year we select an animal rooted in Greek mythology that embodies the Spartan spirit to set the season’s tone. For 2025, we chose the boar, a formidable opponent of both ancient heroes and hunters that represents strength, resilience, and ferocity.

This year’s theme, Unleash Your Beast, invites you to tap into your primal instincts and push beyond your limits. Just as the wild boar challenged ancient Spartans, every race in 2025 will test your courage, determination, and endurance.

Exciting New Events and Venues for 2025 and Beyond

In addition to new venues and races, we’re adding Trifecta weekends throughout the year – bringing the total to 19 – to give you even more chances to join the coveted Trifecta tribe. For new racers, this gives you more options to complete your Spartan goals.

Here’s a sneak peek:

Seattle’s Double Weekend: This year, Seattle will host two action-packed weekends — one in May and one in September — giving you twice the opportunity to dominate those Pacific Northwest trails.
Boise Returns: After a hiatus, we’re returning to Boise, Idaho – and for a Trifecta weekend, no less. Prepare for breathtaking scenery and brutal terrain as you push through some of the most rugged landscapes Spartan has to offer.
Philly Stadion: We’re bringing the Spartan Stadion back to Philadelphia, but we’re keeping the exact location under wraps – for now. Let’s just say, if you’ve been dreaming of racing in a truly legendary sports arena, you won’t be disappointed.
Orlando Sprint: Get ready to race in the happiest place on Earth – Orlando! Our new Sprint race will have you grinning from ear to ear as you tackle obstacles in the shadow of the magic. Trust us, this course is no walk in the (theme)park.

Elevating the Competition: 2025's New Championship Landscape

Just when you thought we didn’t have any more tricks up our sleeve: Spartan is introducing a new Super Championship to crank up the heat. This 10K race offers athletes a fresh challenge, and acts as a stepping stone for those who’ve conquered the Sprint but aren’t sure if they’re ready to tackle a Beast.

The Super Championship is a feat in and of itself. This middle distance is designed to test both speed and endurance. Ready to see if you have what it takes? Championship details are coming shortly.

And for the first time, the Trifecta World Championship is landing in the U.S., as West Virginia becomes the epicenter for OCR athletes worldwide. Racers from every corner of the globe will have the opportunity to take part in one of Spartan’s most iconic events. We’ll head back to Sparta, Greece in 2026.
