SEE IT: Top Moments From Tahoe, and What to Watch for in Sparta and Sweden
Presented by Spartan Training®

The North Lake Tahoe Spartan World Championship is in the books, and it was truly an event to remember. The premier Spartan athletes in the world faced a grueling course in extremely difficult conditions in what was a memorable weekend and finish. With the first leg of the Race to a Million down, here's a look back at five amazing moments from Tahoe, and their significance with Sparta and Sweden up next.

Lindsay Webster's Fall and Comeback

Webster came into Tahoe with an injured foot, and her bad luck continued when she hurt her ankle after falling. The three-time U.S. National Series Champion and two-time North American Champion took a spill after completing the monkey bars, and was limping and writhing in pain. It was unclear if she would finish the race; not only did she complete it, but she managed to finish second despite the setback. It will be interesting to see how these minor injuries affect her, if at all, in Sparta and Sweden.

Robert Killian's Masterful Spear Throw Puts Him in Prime Position

With the wind whipping towards him, Killian threw his spear perfectly to take a considerable lead. That was the turning point, as the 2015 World Champion never looked back from that point forward. More on Killian's heroics below...

Nicole Mericle Stuns Field En Route to First Title

In what has been a career year for Mericle, she raced to a first-place finish for her maiden Spartan World Championship. Mericle was greeted not only by adoring fans, but also by her boyfriend, Aaron Newell, who finished fourth on the men's side. The 31-year-old is in the lead in the Race to a Million, but the challenge of a lifetime awaits her at the Ultra World Championship in Sweden.

Killian Wins Second Spartan World Championship

Killian dominated the downhills and fended off Ryan Atkins, Jonathan Albon, and Newell to capture his second Spartan World Championship. The former Green Beret and Best Ranger Competition winner also won back in 2015. The 36-year-old is brimming with confidence heading into Sparta and Sweden, and he boasts an impressive Ultra résumé. Killian won the Dallas Ultra in 2017 and the Colorado Rockies Ultra this past summer.
