This Is How to Intentionally Stop Being So Negative and Remain Positive
If you feel like you're constantly stuck on a cycle of wondering, "Why am I such a negative person," or constantly experiencing negative thoughts, stress, and fear, there may be a scientific explanation behind it — and a way to intentionally manage and stop negative thoughts and negative emotions.
"There are two pathways: one is the hyper-arousal and one is the de-arousal. There are neuropeptides that work like how a railroad track switches," Mark Divine, retired Navy SEAL and founder of SEALFIT and Unbeatable Mind, says. "Most of us these days — especially since COVID — are permanently locked into a state of hyper-arousal.
"If you're constantly feeding yourself that vitriol and negativity and fear, then that pathway gets locked on, like the railroad switch gets rusted and it's stuck on."
How Do I Turn Negative Into Positive?
So how do you break that cycle of negativity and promote positive thinking? You need to challenge yourself emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and physically.
"When you control what's going on on the inside and you curate the quality of your thinking and the momentum of your actions, then you get to control how you respond to what's happening on the outside," the New York Times best-selling author says. "The crises come in and suddenly they look a lot smaller, a lot easier to handle, and you're prepared for them."
