The One-Week Tyler Veerman Workout
As excitement grows for the 2019 Spartan World Championship in North Lake Tahoe late this September, we tapped Tyler Veerman for an inside look at what a week-long "Tyler Veerman workout plan" looks like, so you can follow along as he preps for Tahoe—and learn to train like a champ yourself.

Veerman keeps it simple when it comes to training: he gets in his cardio, grip strength and core exercises, and is mindful of recovery, especially when workouts come after an eight-hour shift of physical labor.
Note: Begin all workouts with a warm-up—and end all with a cool-down.

Monday: Pick-ups
- 40-45min Easy to moderate effort
- 6-8sets of 10-15sec speedy segments

Tuesday: Threshold Intervals
- 10min warmup
- 3 sets, 13min HARD up, 4min Recovery down
- 10min cooldown
Wednesday: Cross train
- 90-120min cycle, easy to moderate effort

- 30min-2hr bouldering
- 10min ab workout

Friday: Aerobic run
- 40-45min Easy effort

Saturday: Long Aerobic run with lots of vertical work
